Preparing For Your Newborn Photoshoot
Planning for your newborn session can be overwhelming, but don't worry, Dandelion Newborns are here to help! These memories are so special, and it's our goal to make sure you have the best experience possible.
To prepare for the session, try giving your baby a bath to keep them awake and alert, and dress them in easy-to-remove clothing, like zip-up or snap-front baby-grows. It is best to feed your baby before leaving home, or when you get to the studio if you live nearby. If you're breastfeeding, be ready to nurse more often than usual. And don't worry, we'll have plenty of time for feeding, changing and soothing your little one if needed.
Our designated newborn studio, based at Sarah Tate Photography has all the essentials your baby may need, including a changing table, nappies and wipes, but feel free to bring your own. Please bring with you a dummy if you have one (even if baby isn't taking it yet) and a cosy blanket for little one to snuggle under between poses to keep them comforted. Bringing along any sentimental items will also enhance your photoshoot and give it a more personalised feel.
During the session, we'll take our time to capture all the precious moments and sweet expressions, whether your baby is sleeping or wide awake. Your baby is in charge, and we'll work at their pace to keep them comfortable and safe, and ensure plenty of time for those much needed cuddles!
Our studio has a variety of backgrounds, props and accessories to really enhance your photography experience and personalise your images to showcase your little ones personality.
When it comes to what to wear, it is best to dress in layers, as the studio is kept warm and cozy. Soft colors and neutrals like light pinks, blues, grey, white, and creams are perfect for keeping the portraits light and bright. And for family portraits, coordinating (not matching) outfits adds depth and interest to your photos.
Babies change on a daily basis and here at Dandelion Newborns, we are honoured to be able to capture those precious memories for you in timeless, natural and personalised images.
